This is an opportunity for Mr. Lewis' jazz students to "jam" with a professional rhythm section. If you are one of the jazz students, you are STRONGLY encouraged to take an active part in this event. It is a valuable part of your jazz education.

Old Stories

Old Stories by Larry Dierker

Musical Theater

This is an original production written and composed by Larry Dierker, Aubrey Tucker and Paul English. The musical will be performed at the Houston Community College - Town and Country campus. Friday and Saturday nights are 7:30 and Sunday is a 2:30 matinee.

Texas Music Festival Jazz Project

The most exciting big band event of the year, this performance is a who's who in Houston jazz that you just don't want to miss. The band is comprised of Houston's top jazz players playing some of the most challenging music writing for that instrumentation. Eddie Lewis has been playing lead trumpet in this band for about eight years. He considers it a great honor.

The Blue Gnus

The Blue Gnus will be presenting their jazz education show at the Children's Museum on Thursday and Saturday. The show, "Jazz, Made In America", takes the audience through the history of jazz, beginning with Scott Joplin and progressing through to the modern day fusion.

The Joel Fulgham big band is going to be performing at a special fund raising benefit for Mike Nase. As of now, it looks like Eddie Lewis will be playing mostly lead parts. The band is a who's who of Houston jazz players and includes Dennis Dotson, David Caceres, Kelly Dean, Martin Langford, Johnny Gonzales, Woody Witt, Ed Lowe, Thomas Hulten, Reggie Goebel, Jose Miguel Yamal, Chris Cortez, Anthony Sapp and of course, Joel Fulgham. The Blue Gnus are performing their annual NFL Hall of Fame golf tournament at Oakhurst. This Young Audiences ensemble has been performing at this function for several years running.

Dondino in Houston

Newly relocated to Houston, Dondino is presenting his talents at a benefit for one of the Friendswood schools. The event is being held at the South Shore Harbor resort hotel. We consider it an honor to be contracting the backup band.

An exciting concert of trumpet music featuring twenty-two adult and student trumpet players. The program includes works by Samuel Scheidt, Albert Ellmenriech, Vassily Brandt, Tielmann Susato, Alexander Gretchaninoff, Brian Isreal, Benjamin Britten, and George Frederick McKay. The ensemble will also perform several original works by Eddie Lewis, including Herald to the Glory, Easy Christian Suite, On His Word, Wholey Wholey Wholey, Spider Fanfare #2, Chromatic March and his very difficult trumpet octet titled The Lotus Eater.
